My Personal Hair journey; then and now; plus 1 year anniversary giveaway!!!

On this day last year, I put up my My Personal Hair Journey. I took you through my hair story with pictures and at the end I informed you all that I cut off a considerable amount of my hair because it was thinning;

Don't mind the bloated Prego face!!LOL

Then I added that unlike in the past when I was unsure about my hair's capabilities, this time around I was certain that it would grow back healthy and longer and as they say, let the pictures speak for themselves! Below are pictures of my hair THEN and NOW a year after!let me also add that my hair has NEVER been this healthy or even this long!ever!!
LOL@ the sad face in my 2011 picture!! I didn't mean to cut that much hair off but now I am glad I did!!

My hair June 10th 2011 and June 10th 2012; Wearing the same grey tank top I wore in 2011

The work is still ongoing with my hair, you can see its tendency to thin out in the middle, most times when hair grows to the back it becomes thinner in the middle because that's the section that rubs against clothes the most. So I am working on that. I hear putting your hair up in buns works to avoid thinning and also concentrated massages to that section. Basically by pointing out my problem area hair wise, I am establishing a point you should always have in mind;  the journey really never stops!!

A friend who used to have very  long beautiful hair for a long time lost it all within a year! Just because she neglected it. Now she follows this blog dedicatedly and things are looking up for her hair! So there really is never a time you can say I'm done with this hair journey, I have reached my goal length because you might get there but then other issues can arise and I would like to think that the remedies I recommend here are easy breezy and anybody serious about hair growth can follow them and see results. On that note, it's time for our first ever GIVEAWAY!!!!

I will be giving away this Naija Hair Can Grow gift hamper; Comprising of all the essentials in my most popular post 10 things to stop receding hair line! I am calling it the NO MORE RECEDING HAIR STARTER KIT;

It includes;

A small (hair) pillow made by me from raw silk material which will prevent your hair from drying out.

A Bottle of Castor oil; we all know it's use

A specially made scalp massager;  it has spider looking ends that are covered with snag free tips to help stimulate your scalp as you massage to increase blood flow to your scalp and promote hair growth.

A soft bristle brush; In my post I recommend avoiding hard bristle brushes and recommend using a toothbrush for edges but how weird will it be to add a toothbrush to this giveaway!LOL so I'm adding a soft bristle brush which is similar to the kind I use

To win; all you have to do is;

  2. I am so interested in this giveaway. I pray I win this hamper.

    I follow your blog.

    I have searched for your facebook page, I found a group, not a fan page. So I sent the request to join, using Atilola Moronfolu. I hope that qualifies me.

    When I know that relaxed ladies like you are doing natural stuffs to your hair to keep it healthy, I am inspired.

  4. Hey dabs!Once again congrats on the one yr anniversary.Thanks for responding to my mail i really appreciate..how often do you recommend trimming?i actually trim whenever i've just retouched which is usually 10 to 11 weeks and my ends are still light.Perhaps i need to take off a whole lot more than just trimming?Thanks for telling me about park and shop see why it's good to get a blogger living in nigeria?lollbut if the castor oil will only make my roots thicker what's the point?my roots are fine it's the end i need thicker - Nifes

  5. when your hair is thinning the way you described it, i recommend a reasonable chop, like the one I did last June, you need those ends off then you can gradually keep them up with regular necessary trims like I did. The benefit of your roots being thick is, one day those roots will grow out and be your ends, so all my thin bleached out ends in 2009 are now gone and because I took care of my roots, those roots are now my ends, so thicker roots will mean thicker ends with time, hope you get me, thanks for your comment :)

  12. Hello Dabs, i follow your blog and i also liked you on Facebook. I read alot of hair blogs but i always come back to yours because: I enjoy the fresh angle you bring to your topics,your hair is "gawjus", you are crazy about your hair just as i am.

    But most importantly, the styles you do with your hair are off-the hook.

    I am your regular pony-tail girl aka pack your hair but your blog has inspired me to try styles i see in Mags and even on T.V. All i can say is i'm getting there.

    More power to your elbow.

  13. Hiya!!!

    Your blog covers interesting hair topics, but most importantly you have tried and experienced everything you put out there in your blog. That is real.

    I have been inspired to make out time for my hair, because if i want my naija hair to grow, i must take care of it. Thank you for creating time even with a baby.

    I also liked you on FB.

I chopped majority of it off in february this year (i wrote about it in my blog) and it hasn't really grown since then. I guess I don't know what to do to make it grow healthily and long too. I totally love your hair, it's amazeballs. #jealousmuch....:-D.. I plan on reading your previous posts to put me through on how to take care of my hair. I'm liking your facebook page and following your blog right away and hope to win this hair hamper.
