Hiya,
Hope everyone is gearing up for the holidays!
Well some time ago, I was chatting with a friend of mine who is also a devoted NHCG reader and she was like ' Dabs I have been keeping up with my moisturizing and sealing oh and I have acne on my forehead to show for it!!'
We both laughed but that statement got me thinking because I too have suffered from acne breakouts thanks to the olive, castor, coconut oils etc that I apply on my hair that eventually land on my face, clog my pores, accumulate dirt and bacteria and form a painful pimple!!
Since then I have tried a few things that have helped curb breakouts, below are a few tips you can try if your hair oils start to cause breakouts on your face...
I noticed that most times hair oils get on our faces during bed time so to avoid this from happening, try moisturizing and sealing your hair early in the evening so you give your strands a few hours to absorb the oils rather than risk having the oils fresh on your satin cap or pillow case and inevitably on your face!
Using a thick oil like Castor oil over light runny oils to seal at night can also prevent oil running down to your face.
Changing your bedding especially your pillowcase and washing your satin cap/ scarf regularly can help prevent oil accumulation.
When you first seal your hair, take your hair off your face, it's not the time to have your bangs out or leave your hair hanging all over your face, doing this will greatly increase your risk of breaking out.
Another time you stand the risk of getting hair oils on your face is after you shower and are getting dressed. Most times after dressing up, its either you makeup then face your hair or you do your hair then makeup all in one sitting in front of your dresser.
The chances of you getting acne from touching your hair and face at about the same time are high so what I do to avoid hair oils getting on my face while I dress up is, I focus on my hair first before I do my makeup. Why?
Because chances are, by the time I am done with my hair, my hands will be sooooo oily and gooey that I will have no choice but to stand up and wash them or wipe them with facial wipes giving my hands a clean and fresh start for my face. It also helps that my makeup regimen starts with cleansing my face with a facial cleanser so any hair oils that found their way on my face will be quickly wiped away before they accumulate.
I have come to the end of my post, as usual these NHCG 6inches of Growth Challenge tips/tricks posts are short and precise.
Of course these tips are solely in relation to hair oils causing acne, other tips like keeping your makeup brushes clean, avoiding oily foods, washing and exfoliating your face are general tips you can incorporate to prevent acne in general but as I be 'Hair guru' not skin guru, I go leave that side first :)
Hope the challenge is going well ladies! I am working on a Half Time meet up in June! I and you should have 3 inches longer hair by then!!
This weekend all the SHOP NHCG goodies go up on the page!! Excited!!! Till then and till my next post, have a very blessed Easter holiday!
Xxx
