Hiya,
How's everyone doing, hope well! So last weekend I texlaxed my hair! It was just 10 weeks post relaxer but you guys know I have been dealing with major post partum shedding and at the rate I have been going if I left my hair with more new Growth I'd be dealing with major thinned out ends and that horrible inverted V trying to rare it's ugly self back up so I made the decision to texlax.

I used for the first time after hearing soooo many great reviews, Creme of nature's Back to Eden 100% plant derived straightening Creme.

Unlike most no lye relaxers where you mix the activator into the Creme, this relaxer had an additional step of mixing in a Creme booster, so that's three things mixed;

It took a total of 20 mins for me to apply the relaxer to all of my thick tangled new growth! I barely got the chance to massage it before running to wash it off. One thing I noticed about the relaxer is that it has to be the most gentle relaxer I've ever used on my scalp! I usually don't burn easily but I start to. Itch around my ears and nape just before I wash the relaxer off no matter the brand but with this treatment, I felt nothing!!

Once I washed the treatment off I went into panic mode guys! My hair felt too straight! I started hoping I just didn't relax my hair bone straight!! I was filled with regret!

I bought the relaxer grade A which is for fine, wavy or delicate hair so why was it looking over processed!! In fact I contemplated getting another grade because I felt my hair which is neither fine or wavy or even delicate will be under processed when I was done....now thanking God I didn't!!

Well all my fears were gone once my hair was dry....my roots were still quite thick! My hair was as dry as it always gets after a relaxer treatment,I even used their conditioner in hopes that my hair will feel softer but nope it didn't, I just had to do an intense moisture deep condition of aloe Vera gel, palm oil and other hair oils with olive oil conditioner at Savvy Chic Hair Beauty hub...my hair became soft and all was well in the world again! Lol!

Length retention wise, I did retain length but thanks to all the tangling going on with my post partum shedding...my ends needed a little cleaning up which I did by trimming sections as needed....

before Trim

After Trim

My nape hair that had that inverted V has grown out but I'm still watching closely to ensure it fully thickens....that area of my hair gets all the extra love when it's time to moisturize and seal...

My edges have also thinned out due to the post partum shedding but my Jamaican castor oil is working on them and I am seeing improvement.

All in all I am quite happy with my hair and if I keep babying my ends, I'm sure I can get to line 10mid back length)neater I the year, I'm on line 7....was on line 10 in 2014 when I had that awful breakage at the back! Wish me Iuck!

So how is it going ladies? Any one texlaxed lately or is everyone leaving me and going natural?!!
I'd love to read your feed back!

Hiya,
How are y'all doing?! My birthday was yesterday so I got my hair texlaxed just because I wanted sleek edges for my birthday (not that I was going anywhere extraordinary...)but yeah I self-texlaxed at 12 weeks post relaxer a week before on the 16th and I used my all time fave,  silk elements olive oil relaxer and enjoyed every bit of the treatment-

I spent a total of 15 minutes from start to finish, no combing, fully coated my ends with conditioner and coconut oil, no scalp burns and nicely textured hair!!

Took a texture shot of my roots just before I started;

Look at my ponytail after, see all the texture from root to tip...loving this texlaxed life!!

My hair is now fully at Bra Strap level- BSL, I didn't straighten it and didn't bring my length check T shirt on my trip so I don't have an accurate measurement but from the pics I took it sure is BSL.

Loving the pace in which my hair is growing...presently my hair is in layers as I gave it a nice new year trim. I have accepted that if you don't go in there and trim what needs to be trimmed and give your hair layers with scissors, your hair will help you out and layer itself but you will most likely be left with unsightly ends (uneven scraggly ends). I will resume Youtube texlax update videos so I can actually show how I manage my different lengths, how I dust my ends etc.

In March my hair will start post partum shedding for about a month if I'm to go by how it happened for my last two pregnancies, I'm fully prepared for that,  post partum shedding doesn't scare me as much again at least not as much as my Inverted V coming back, that gives me straight up nightmares but I'm watching the back of my hair very closely and so help me God there will be no more set backs.

That's all for my texlax update, I'm owing a shopping trip post but I held out that post because there is this shop I discovered on  Instagram in Houston where I am that is PACKED with a product junky like me's wants and desires and I have to head there first before I conclude my shopping trip...So stay tuned for that....P.S restrictions on Nigerian bank cards and our sad exchange rate has made this trip such a hassle for me and that's why I cannot even open an import window...hopefully things settle down and get better and we resume in our product junkie ways :) but stay tuned for that post and a compilation of all those who have entered the 2016 growth challenge!!

Thanks for stopping by,

Hiya,
How's everyone doing?!! I'm back with my 3rd texlax update for the year, I couldn't wait to get my hair texlaxed this time around because at 11 weeks my new growth was crazy thick!!

This time, I used Hawaiian Silky relaxer;

I did the half/half method as usual and washed off the relaxer at 12 minutes on each side but was surprised that the hair processed really quickly.

But all is still well as my hair looked and felt great at the end, as for my nape hair? It's still going strong...so far I have retained 2 full inches this year inclusive of all the trims and dusting I do, that's not bad at all. Started at line 4, hair is landing on line 6( Sorry for the blurry pics)

My ends still need regular trims but because they are fully texlaxed ends they look all fuzzy and natural hence the unequal look until I use heat which I am not keen on...

Loved my edges!!

This time around I focused on my edges...really wanted to have them sleek for a while...

In all, my hair feels great and well on its way to healthy length retention!!

Who else texlaxed recently? feel free to share...

Hiya,
How's everyone doing? Hope well, been a busy past week for your home girl but I still found time to deal with my new growth and get a touch up!!

I texlaxed at 11 and a half weeks after I started noticing unnecessary shedding, I used Creme of Nature Argan oil relaxer for the first time ever because I was out of stock of my darling Silk Elements relaxer...

I proceeded to section my hair as usual and coated the mid/shaft to ends with water/glycerin spritz and oils, then touched up my new growth, stuck with the half/half method from my last update...I also added grape seed oil to my relaxer to slow down the processing they say (seems to work)-

After I was done, I decided to do a henna mask treatment (Extra strength);

Allowed my hair to air dry and I was very happy with the results, my ends have also made a nice come back, thicker and very textured just the way I like it-

Close up of my ends

I did all this at the hub...but when I got home, I started craving straighter hair to get a better understanding of what my length is and so I could get a trim, so I straightened my hair with just 1 PASS- I promise :)

My ends now pass line 5!!

Soooo I retained an entire inch and some change!! My ends were on no 4 as at the last time I texlaxed by the time I was done trimming-

FEB 2015

My nape hair that has been quite famous with that pic of my hair all broken off making rounds on instagram has fully recovered;

looking good!.
P.S That pic taught me a valuable lesson of water marking my pictures but stillll I am lazy about getting the app but shout out to all those that tagged me and went 'That's Dabs hair!', Well Dab's hair is back people, please post these pics :) LOL!!

Finally I trimmed my ends, for some areas it was like a 1 inch cut (no more scraggly ends);

 Pin curled my hair to give it some volume, flat irons just make everything so flat!

And the next day for work, I let the curls down and was left with nice shinny, bouncy hair (wish I could have good hair days like this everyday)

And that's all people!!! Want to hear the FULL STORY about how I have overcome sooo many set backs in my hair journey??? Then come for the Salon Day Out on the 7th of June, its a Sunday and we will be at Oriental Hotel....Its going to be serious fun learning....I have a FAQ vid coming up next on all the questions I've been asked about this year's salon day out, so watch it when I post it, spread the word and be blessed!! LOL

Hiya,
Its that time of the year, had my first texlax on Thursday at 10 weeks post after battling with the idea of stretching to 12 weeks post...my last touch up which left one part of my hair really under processed made it really hard for me to manage my new growth so I decided to go ahead and texlax it before I suffered a set back.

I texlaxed with my relaxer of the past 4 years....

This time I did things a little different, I wanted to ensure that I texlaxed my hair as accurately as possible, so I added a cap full of extra virgin avocado oil to my relaxer and mixed it thoroughly...this slows down the potency of the relaxer...

The next new thing I did is something I have wanted to try for a while but been quite lazy on relax day to try it...I divided my hair into 2 sections and applied the relaxer to one section, smooth it out and rinsed it within 15 minutes, before I started work on the other half of my hair.

This allowed me take my time to go through each section of the hair without rushing through the whole head like in the past where I would be left with one section more processed than the other.
I will be using this method to texlax moving forward and will offer this method at the hub.( Call 08090613325 to book a texlax appointment if in Lagos :)

When I was done I was left with the best most even texlax I have ever had;

Few inches from being fully texlaxed!
As you can see I am loving the way my hair looks, I still have very few bone straight ends to go as you can see in the picture below;

GOT TO LINE 5 BUT THOSE ENDS NEEDED CLIPPING.

Bone straight ends left...

After a little trim, I did a little comparison with my length check T- shirt and was pleased to see that my hair was now comfortable past line 3 and was now on line 4 meaning I had retained length from my last length check when my hair was primarily on a 3.

HAIR AT 6 WEEKS POST RELAXER IN JAN- LINE 3

My hair now after my trim...grazing line 4;

Oh and let's see how my middle back hair is recovering from this;

Here it is;

Looking great!!
I feel so much better about my hair, more confident...loving the fullness and the movement...I will never sacrifice healthy ends for length ever again...as I said before, if it will take me longer to get to my goal length of full MBL then I am willing to wait...no pressure, its not a race nor a competition...so my dear readers watch and learn how to COME BACK from a SET BACK!!

Hiya,
How's everyone doing?!! The year has come to an end and I recently had my last touch of the year done. Here's an update on how that went...

I relaxed my hair at the end of  the 13th week after my last touch up. I used  my usual Silk Elements relaxer and for the first time since I started texlaxing, I used the shortest time of 18 minutes from start to finish which was a great feat for me as I usually always strive for less than 20 minutes but usually end up getting done at 20/22 minutes. With Texlaxing, every minute counts and since I am trying to achieve texlaxed hair from root to tip, my touch ups have to process as texlaxed hair not bone straight relaxed hair to maintain that uniformity.

Enough blabbering, here are the results of my hair after the touch up;

My ends still need to fill out as I got rid of most of my bone straight ends but couldn't bring myself to cut all my hair straight in a blunt line, so what I did was divide my hair in sections and cut each section taking off the split ends and thinness in that section;

The quality of my hair is so much more improved compared to my last touch up in September when though my hair was longer, it was made up of weaker bone straight ends;

Well that's that with my hair, people always wonder why I am not afraid to cut my hair when I feel the need and I tell them its because I know it will grow back!! As you embark on your hair journey, be confident about your ability to nurture your hair back to at least the point you have grown it out to, each year aim to push the envelope by ensuring that your hair is healthier than the last, even if it means you cutting off a few inches to attain that health...well that's my own approach.

These days and moving forward into the new year, I have devised a hair routine for my hair...Every Sunday I PROTEIN DEEP CONDITION, preferably with an egg or any protein rich conditioner/oils as my hair thrives with protein, I also MUST APPLY HEAT during this deep condition to ensure that the treatment is absorbed by my hair strands...

Then every Wednesday I Cowash with a moisture rich conditioner...This keeps my protein moisture levels balanced. I have had people exclaim when I tell them this is what I do because they just can't imagine wetting their hair twice a week but let me tell you guys, since I started doing this routine my hair just feels much more manageable, all that build up from moisturizing and sealing daily, clogged pores get taken care of on Wednesday allowing my hair tangle less, get more moisture and also allows me only deal with my hair on those two days...oh yes I still hardly use a comb in fact before I used to comb my hair wet after doing the treatments but since I read how damaging combing wet hair is even with a wide tooth comb, now I don't use a comb to my hair until its 95% dry. What I do is apply detangling products and moisturize and seal the hair after towel drying, so that when I comb it is easier.

That's what I have been doing for the past few months and I am seeing positive results, please feel free to share what you ladies have been up to and if you have tweaked your hair routine...in the mean time here are more entries for the 6 inches of growth challenge...for all those who entered at the start of the year, please remember that the last day to send in entries is the 16th of Dec!!
( That's in 2 days time ladies!!)

TOLU'S  BEFORE AND AFTER;

GOLD HEAVEN'S BEFORE AND AFTER

STELLA (FROM GHANA)- BEFORE AND AFTER

Keep em coming ladies, we have to find a winner by the 28th of this month!! Good luck and thanks again for taking part in this challenge!! Have a blessed week!
