WELCOME TO THE NAIJA HAIR CAN GROW HAIR PRODUCTS AWARD FOR THE YEAR 2016!!!

(APPLAUSE)

 PLEASE TAKE YOUR SITS AND REMEMBER TO GIVE A ROUND OF APPLAUSE TO THE WINNERS OF EACH AWARD CATEGORY!!!!!

Without Much Ado, let's start with the first award (Earlier announced on Instagram)- The award for the BEST DETANGLER IN 2016 goes to- THE MANE CHOICE SLIK & SHINE LEAVE IN DETANGLER CONDITIONER-

I chose this detangler because it really does what it promises!! If you've got tangles and knots, simply sprtiz directly on them and gently pull your hair apart, it works so good!! I used this stuff every day I detangled until it sadly finished!! My only qualms with it would be the price, at N4500 a bottle, it's quite expensive especially for the size!!

Next up is THE BEST HAIR MASK AWARD which goes to NUBIAN ROOTS DEEP CONDITIONING HAIR MASK!!!

When I am not concocting and I need a straight forward DC that will leave my hair feeling soft and manageable, I turn to this proudly made in Nigeria DC to get the job done!!! This brand reminds me so much of the AS I AM brand which I loved so much when I started my hair journey...this is a nice dupe for the AS I AM Cowash which I used to use for co-washing and in my DC's back in the day!!

The award for the MOST AFFORDABLE HAIR PRODUCTS in 2016 goes to KUICARE!!

The products range from N750 to N1500 a bottle, quite affordable for quality hair products these days!! My favorite from the collection is the one below, their KUICARE LEAVE IN CONDITIONER HAIR MIST and it retails at N1250 for a generous 16oz bottle!!!

The AWARD FOR THE BEST LEAVE IN CONDITIONER CREME- There's a tie!!! I couldn't pick just one from the array of hair cremes/lotions I used this year ( And I used  ALOT!!!) But I decided to give the award to NATURAL NIGERIAN'S LEAVE IN CONDITIONER AND BEAUTIFUL TEXTURES TANGLE TAMING LEAVE-IN CONDITIONER!!

These leave in conditioning cremes are what everyone on a journey requires from a hair creme- they give great slip, instantly moisten the hair, are easily absorbed by the hair strands and don't leave residue on the hair...NN's leave in makes me a proud Nigerian but my only qualms with it is the size! I wish it came in a bigger bottle!!

The award for THE BEST HAIR REPAIRER has got to be OLAPLEX No.3
 It's such a hair strengthener especially if you color your hair or relax it...it reminds me so much of Henna, you use it and instantly feel your hair get stronger!! Get it if you have weak ends!!!

The AWARD For the BEST OIL is PARACHUTE COCONUT OIL!! I love this particular brand, the smell is soooooo authentic!!! I love the size too, this bottle lasted me over a year and doesn't cost alot!!

The BEST HAIR PUDDING FOR 2016 is the NN FLAX SEED GEL HAIR PUDDING!!! Love this hair pudding, it's great for twist outs and braid outs!! I love that the hold is defined but not scrunchy and strong, smells great too!! I see it being a staple for a lot of naturalistas !!!

The award for THE BEST SCENTING PRODUCT of the year has got to be the AFRO BY NATURE COLLECTION!!!! I LOOOOOVEEEE the smell of these products!!! Think rich vanilla butter cream cupcake scent!!! soooo good!!

The ALL ROUND PRODUCT OF THE YEAR- The AFRICAN NATURALISTAS  VEGETABLE GLYCERINE!!! I love this product!! It's affordable costs less than N2000, you can use it in anything, shampoos, pre-poos, leave- in's, detanglers etc...just a few a drops is all you need and it gets the job done!!!!
And with that, we round up the awards for 2016!!!! Please give these winners a round applause!!!!

Please share your faves below, I'd love to know what you think of these products if you have tried any of them!!! I wish you all a merry  Christmas and a prosperous New year!!!!

Hiya,
So I have a received award nominations in recent times from the following readers;
Tinu of http://wurassecrethair.blogspot.com/, Curious Kinks; http://curiouskinks.blogspot.com/, Ghanaian Emprezz; http://www.ghanaianemprezz.com and Deep brown & Kinks http://deepbrownkinks.blogspot.com/ all gave me these Versatile Blogger Awards;

and Dr Fomsky of Sizzling Mom; http://thesizzlingmommy.com gave me another one; The Liebster Award!!

I want to thank all these lovely bloggers for their nominations! High fives to them for the great jobs they are doing on their blogs as well!

I have decided to use this post to respond to the awards but as the  non conformist I can be, I have decided to tweak the rules a little!!*wide grin * but first these are the rules ;

1. Create a versatile blogger award blogpost and thank the blogger who nominated you by posting a link back to their blog
2. Nominate 15 other bloggers you follow
3. Inform the nominees by posting a comment on their blog
4. Share 7 random facts about yourself
5. Post these rules on your blog

I on the other hand will put up 7 RANDOM PICTURES from my phone archives and tell you all what each pic is all about. Cool? At least I'm obeying the other rules...

The first pic is my very own attempt at making Cheesecake factory bread; 'That cheesecake factory bread'! The wheat brown bread that is oh so yummy!

One day at my desk in my office, my mind wonders and I begin to dream about that warm, succulent delicious wheat bread they serve at Cheesecake factory before your order comes and I decide to search google for a recipe and I find recipes! Apparently I'm not the only one in love with that bread! I followed a simple recipe I found and it turned out fine actually! The bread did not rise ( my impatience) but the cocoa and honey I put in the mix and the toasted oats sprinkled on top made the bread taste just like the cheesecake factory bread.

This second pic is a pic of my native food;

 I am from a Kingdom, yes Kingdom as in United Kingdom, Kingdom called the Kalabari Kingdom and this is one of the staple meals made by my Kalabari people it's called Onunu( the yellow ball) made by pounding boiled yam and boiled plantain with palm oil, it's so yum! We eat it with fresh fish stew. This was my first attempt of making it all by myself, not a bad first time, I didn't realize how many pics of food I have, if I get another award I will give you guys an eyeful of my culinary prowess!LOL

This is the woman who birth me! My very funny Mum!

You see my Dad is a golfer, my mum on the other hand likes to THINK she is one! Well she did play golf regularly when she was younger ( no that's not how my parents met) but now she will dress up fully kitted once a year and go to the golf course and spend more time taking pics than hitting balls!!LOL ( she's going to get me for this but since I'm in Lagos and she's  all the way in PH, she'l forget about it by the next time we see!LOL)

Oh here's another food related pic, it's a pic of a Thai salad I made for my hubby.

He has a habit of sending me emails of recipes he would like me to try out. Finding the ingredients for this salad was a bit of a challenge but I finally found most of what I needed at Deli's supermarket in VI for those interested in these kind of things. My hubs loved it, I on the other hand almost threw up after just a taste, it didn't help that I was in my first trimester!

So in this pic above, I, my sister and some friends met at Uyo for a close pal's wedding, we get near the reception venue and are told the road to the reception is blocked so we'll have to walk down quite a distance and you know we were not about to start walking on hard tarred ground with 5 inch heels! No way! So for the first time ever we saw the relevance of these annoying(. Not in this case) little motorcycle turn miniature car things called Kekenapep! Of course we had to make some random stranger take a pic for keepsakes!

And don't worry we got to the bride in one piece!

This Pic below was taken just before our boy came, I have two braids on, I moisturized and sealed and then braided my hair even on delivery day! Having a hair regimen becomes part of your life style if you let it!

This pic is a major throwback pic!

My sister and I bumped into Akon and his crew at the Lagos airport on our way back home from Uni! I'm sporting my famous blonde hair but this time I have like 10 strands in front as bangs!LOL! My front hair was breaking so I decided to just cut it into bangs, at least it was an attempt at styling my color damaged hair! (have you noticed how I like to cock my head to the side when I pose for pics? its been a habit since forever!)

This Last pic for good measure is me giving my baby some hair, NAIJA BABY HAIR CAN GROW TOO!! (this is an old pic, he is much older now : )

Thanks again ladies for the awards, hope you don't mind my tweaking! I Tag all of you back, go through your photo archives and share your 7 well in my case 9 pics(told you i was a non conformist) and tell us about them, You'l be surprised the pics You'l find!

ANNOUNCEMENT; on the 1st of October a new page called the 'Shop NHCG' page will come up on this blog. It will be the answer to getting all those products you have searched high and low for in Nigeria and from outside the Country! I have also formulated hair kits to target specific hair issues, some of the kits even come with recipes and guides so stay tuned for that page as there will be a giveaway as part of the Nigerian Independence day celebration!!

I hope you enjoyed this post, catch you on the next one!!

Hiya,
The year has come to an end and I am filled with gratitude to the Most High for all He has done for me and mine!! I went on youtube recently and watched one of the hair guru's video on her hair product awards and thought it would be a fun post for me to do on this blog and so;

 WELCOME  TO THE  NAIJA HAIR CAN GROW 2011 HAIR PRODUCTS AWARDS!!!

APPLAUSEEEEEEEEE!!

Without much ado, the first award category is; BEST SHAMPOO IN 2011!
                              The Nominees are; VO5 shampoo
                                                           Aphogee shampoo for damaged hair
                                                           Pantene 2 in 1 shampoo and condtioner
                                                           Dr miracle feel it formula 2 in 1 shampoo and conditioner
THE WINNER IS; ALL OF THE ABOVE!! As I have mentioned in the past, most shampoos serve the same purpose which is to cleanse hair. This year, I hardly stuck to any shampoo because of this notion and my focus was co-washing(conditioner washing) my hair because that is what keeps the moisture in your hair and since I washed my hair at least once a week, I didnt need a super cleansing shampoo because my hair was never  too dirty.

The Next award category is; BEST CONDITIONER IN 2011
                                           The nominees are; Aphogee keratin 2 minute reconstructor
                                                                       Motions Salons Herbal Conditioner
                                                                       VO5 Conditioners.

THE WINNER IS; Without a doubt is APHOGEE KERATIN 2 MINUTE RECONSTRUCTOR!

There is no competition, this conditioner is lightweight so you can mix it easily with other oils and mayonnaise, it smells great and most importantly it really leaves your feeling soft and manageable, my only little issue with it is that it should come in a BIGGER bottle so it lasts longer :)

CATEGORY 3 is THE 2011 AWARD FOR BEST PRE POO HAIR TREATMENT;
                              The nominees are; Mayonnaise,eggs and oils-protein treatment
                                                          Avocado hair mask
                                                          Deep conditioning hair treatment
                             The Winner is; THE MAYONNAISE, EGGS AND OILS PROTEIN TREATMENT  done every other week really helped strengthen my ends and prevented them from breaking off.

I will continue to do this treatment in the new year. A few ladies told me it did not work for them including my sister but when they described how the went about it I instantly knew the reason why it didnt work. Their hair was suffering from protein overload!! My sister for one slept with her's in her hair overnight when its supposed to be on for a few hours and washed out and then another friend used  'hair mayonnaise' in the mixture instead of normal mayo and that is already packed with protein so naturally there was an overload and what happens when there's an overload of protein? breakage! so if you want to incorporate this into your regimen do it right, check out my weekend regimen post for guidelines .

The next Award category is 2011 BEST HAIR RELAXER
The nominees include; Carson's Optimum care relaxer
                                  At One Hair Relaxer
                                 Herbal Rich, Lye Creme Relaxer
                               Silk Elements Megasilk No lye relaxer

The winner is; SILK ELEMENTS MEGASILK NO LYE RELAXER
This relaxer was the best I and my sisters used this year, it straightened my hair good without overprocessing it, it also has olive oil infused in the leave in conditioner and that kept my hair soft after relaxing and because of how good the relaxer was, I could stretch up to 13 weeks with ease! I strongly recommend it!its been 3weeks since I used Carson's Optimum care relaxer and my hair looks like I havn't gotten a relaxer in 2months!! and I used the super relaxer!Needless to say, I won't use that relaxer again. For 2012 I am thinking of trying Mizani or Affirm relaxing systems, I have heard the hype but Ill like to test them for myself! Stay tuned!!

The next category of awards is the 2011 AWARDS FOR BEST LEAVE IN/ DETANGLING HAIR PRODUCT
The nominees are; Water and Glycerin mixture
                            Vitale Pro B vitamin leave in conditioner
                            Mane and Tail Detangler
                            Aphogee Keratin mist
The winner goes to; BOTH MANE AND TAIL DETANGLER

AND the GLYCERIN AND WATER MIXTURE!!Yes, to me this mixture is the best detangling/ leave in conditioner you can think of!! alongside the mane and tail detangler, this year I knew no knots!!The number of strands of hair I lost greatly reduced thanks to these 2!!!BIG APPLAUSE!!

The second to the last award category is for 2011's BEST HEAT PROTECTANT.
The nominees are;Extra Virgin Olive Oil
                           Chi Silk Infusion
                           John Frieda Frizz Ease heat protectant
The winner is; EXTRA VIRGIN OLIVE OIL!!

This might come as a shock to some of you that the manufactured and very hyped Chi Silk Infusion lost this award, well in my opinion, while it is a good heat protectant for it lightweight and glossy consistency, extra virgin olive oil gives off the same effect with the added benefit of being a natural product and sealing in the moisture to the strands of your hair as you apply the heat. Love it!!

The final award for this year is the 2011 BEST ORGANIC OIL
The nominees are; Extra virgin oilve oil
                             Coconut oil
                             Castor oil
                            Sweet almond oil
The winner is; without a doubt COCONUT OIL
I used virgin coconut oil almost every single day of this year!! and I loved it!! Its is conditioning and leaves great shine, not too much but not too little and the best part is knowing it is being absorbed by your hair shaft and moisturizing it!! well deserved!!

I have come to the end of my Hair products award for this year!! I look forward to next year's hair journey in excitement and determination to finish even better than this year!! I wish you all my dear readers the best with growing your hair and thank you all for your support with this blog! expect bigger and better things from here by God's grace in 2012!!

Love you all
Dabs!!
