Hiya,
How's everyone doing? Hope well...I promised to put up this post as I love reviewing different celebrity hairstyles after major red carpet events...so lets get straight into it!!

The Hairstyle I was most blown away with was obviously this amazing HUGE braided do by Janelle Monae!!

Gosh she always knows how to work a braid doesn't she...year after year after year!! I can't get enough but personally I'd have switched things a little bit at the MET to match this year's theme- CHINA THROUGH THE LOOKING GLASS...Nothing about this hairstyle reflects the theme...

But you know who did her homework thoroughly?!!!

My girl Rihanna!!!

Wasn't this absolutely beautiful and apt!!! Loved that this hair style plus the hair piece matched the theme and I've always loved this shade of red on Riri out of the colors she has experimented with, I also loved the simple make up and nude lips!!

My next Fav has to be Selena Gomez!!

The white calla lilys used as a head piece real or not just gave her this fresh and clean look!! I didn't bother searching for what the back looked like but I must say this is an absolutely gorgeous way to sprush up a boring ponytail!! LOVE IT!!

My next fav was Solange!! Her hair style was really chic!! Just a plain strong blunt ponytail....I will put up a tutorial of me recreating this hair style using expressions extensions...can't wait to share my trick...stay tuned!!

My next fav was someone who always gets it right in the hair style dept!! Jessica Alba!!

From her hair to her makeup to her accessories, she just bronzed up real good!! GORG!!

My Final fav because her hair was just drool worthy....it looked like it just felt soooo soft and smelt sooo good is Jennifer Lawrence!! Just Yummy!!

She just looks like a doll!! Adorable!!

THE LOOKS I WAS JUST NOT FEELING;

I have to start with Queen B as she is called by her over the top fans (If you are one, please pardon me but I have to say it like I mean it Wendy style at this very moment)- Her hair was what I will term---hair bleaching GONE WRONG!!

It looks like the color job was done that evening as they tried to match her hair with the weave....her hair looks so tightly pulled up together that the base of the ponytail looks like the hair there will just be breaking off as the night passes...this is even a nice picture, some pics I saw up close her hair looks soooo damaged...we might have another Naomi on our hands if she is not careful...girl ask Solange what she is doing to her own hair and lay off the bleach a little!! Her make up was clean and gorg though!!

Another major diva whose hair just left me bleh has to be JLO!!

It just looked BORING!! Like she was in a hurry after dressing up and decided to just brush her hair to the back and leave the house! Maybe she didn't know the theme of the night!!

My final not so fav look was this Ice queen scary ''dare to look into her eyes'' look by Sarah Jessica Parker-

 She loves a good statement head piece which is cool and this one actually suited the theme but the entire look with the way her eyes just look like they can pierce into your soul makes her just look plain old scary to me!!

And with that I am done!! Enjoyed talking about something else other than the Salon Day Out on the 7th of June at Oriental Hotel for a change (See how I shamelessly plugged that in?lol ) It's going to be lots of fun people so please prepare to come in your numbers!!

Thanks for the continued support!

Hiya,
In a flash we are already in March!! 2014 is speeding along and we thank God! As usual this being first day of this month, means our monthly import windows is officially open till the 7th!! So those interested in getting hair/beauty products please email info@hairbeautyhub.com with the title MARCH IMPORTS and we will handle it. If you ordered in Feb. and are yet to receive your order, expect them from Monday, we have them all packed!!

With every fashion week that comes by, I make it a point to check what new hairstyles are out there and I share them here for inspiration, so without further ado, these are the styles that caught my fancy this past fashion week and I can't wait to recreate them...

CUTE SLEEK PIG TAILS.

PHILLIP LIM

I've always thought rocking a sleek low pig tail is cute and works even on adults; I've even rocked this style before hmmm Phllip do you read Naija Hair Can grow? :)

 SLEEKED BACK EDGY WAVY LOW DO; Just love how sleek and hard core she looks!
ZIMMERMAN

NEAT AND PRETTY UPDO; You can never go wrong with a neat updo with volume up top! It always makes you look put together. Wear it to a wedding, meeting, party-all occasions!
CAROLINA HERRERA

BOBBY PINNED TO PERFECTION; By far the most creative hairstyle I saw, take a close look, all they used were bobby pins round the base of the pony tail, clever and different! Sooo recreating this!
HELMUT LANG

HELMUT LANG
 MESSY PONY TAIL; Looveee a good messy pony tail!! To achieve this look, its best to do a twist out first then unravel, don't comb just use your fingers to smooth out the base of the pony tail and then smooth out your edges.
TRACY REESE

STRUCTURED HIGH PONY TAIL; I love this look by Kate spade, I am already thinking of different things that can replace the black band they used to hold the high ponytail; an ankara wrapped band, some blinged out sequins material, chains (wrap a necklace around the hair piece) so many options!!
KATE SPADE

 The last is the look from Rodarte's show. I desperately looked for more pictures from this show but their quality was not good enough.... With this look, all the hair was pushed to the side and they did some kind of roll which I am loving, also love the base ball hats paired with the look, now will I choose to wear a baseball hat like that? No, maybe when I was 13! LOL
RODARTE

With that, I have come to the end of my fashion week post, be inspired and play with your hair!! Writing this post inspired me to do an interpretation of these styles but they will not be published here but in the next edition of our  SAVVY & CHIC HAIR/BEAUTY MAGAZINE out in APRIL!! Speaking of which, we have distributors NOW!!!! In Abuja, PH, Calabar!!!  Thanks to the ladies who volunteered. Interested readers in other states holla, there are perks involved, we may just be starting off but down the line by God's grace, the tune will change, you can be part of that change!! So holla and l'll put you through!!

In other news, I am going to be at LPM TOMORROW!! Its a shopping event and we will be there with our magazine ( a free gift comes with each purchase), we will also be there with Hairfinity, Cantu shea butter products, Herbal Essences, OPI and China Glaze nail polishes, Henna and a few more products I can't remember right now!!

Please if you are in Lagos and are free, please come out and see us! Time; 12pm to 7pm. Venue; 36 Balarabe Musa Str. Off Samuel Maruwa St. (1004 estate entrance road) off Ozumba Mbadiwe, VI, Lagos.

Thanks for all your support!!

Hiya,
So I AM BACK!! Back to Lagos with my entire crew and I cannot tell you how exhausting but at the same time exciting these past few days have been!  In all, I thank God :)

Just before I left, I browsed through and saved a few pictures from this month's New York Fashion week, I have always loved checking out Fashion week pictures for hairstyle inspiration and this time was no different. While I searched I found a few hairstyles I can definitely tweak to suit me, hope some of you ladies can do the same either with your hair or by adding extensions-my preferred extension option will forever be clip-in extensions!!

So without much ado, let's proceed!!

The first hairstyle off the Kenneth Cole runway that caught my eye was this simple yet cheeky braided pigtails with the ends left undone looking crimped;

To recreate this look I would most likely have my clip in extensions spritz and braided overnight and by the next morning, I loosen the braid and clip them in at the very bottom of the braid with my hair covering the clips or if I am in a hurry a heat tool like a curling iron or crimping iron should do! Easy peasy...

The next was a hairstyle trend I found interesting- Braids with colored scarfs/cloth

Intertwined into a bun, like this one on Tia Ciban's models.

source

CALLA; Intertwined in fishtail braids

MARA HOFFMAN; intertwined in French braids

It could be a fun way to make use of strips of ankara materials I have lying around...

The next look that got my attention was by KATE SPADE; Her models looked so clean and crisp with the use of white nail polish, a sleek topknot and white eyeliner!
source

 I would love to recreate this look on one of my free 'I just feel like making up' days-been having quite a few of such days lately thanks to being on leave :)

The next hairstyle is great for ladies who want to spritz up their super long weaves, Its 3 fishtail braids at the sides and the back worn by models at the Nicholas K show!
source
If you don't know how to fishtail braid, go to you tube and watch tutorials that's how I learnt, its super easy and makes braids look cooler and more interesting...

The final look I was feeling was at  Naeem Khan's show- From the front, the model's hairstyle looked like it was a simple halo braid with a center part in the middle;

And then I saw the back;

source
LOVES IT! It's definitely a style I would love to recreate preferably when I get a fresh relaxer treatment done for the perfect sleek edges and nape hair :)

In my search, I remembered that some African designers showed at the NYFW and quickly googled to see if anything had changed, were the models going to be rocking some banging bantu knots or perhaps have dreadlocks- remember my rant in 2012 HERE, well like in 2012 nothing has changed! The two African designers whose show pictures I looked at  had their models in boring, snooze worthy hairstyles. No spunk, no pizzazz!

DAVID TLALE;

source
The models at his show had their hair sleeked to the back-zzzzzzzzz

MAKI OH
source
Same thing here- I can imagine a pin up girl hairstyle with side swept bangs and soft cascading shoulder length curls really bringing this dress alive! But unfortunately hair is probably the last thing our African designers think about.

This Congolese brand Modhanik actually tried, their models had their hair teased into puffy manes, though this style doesn't reflect Africa in anyway.

 I cannot wholly fault the designers because it's not an African fashion show and the designers obviously want to appeal to their audience but still....African designers please now be more creative with your hairstyles-be the trendsetters not the slackers...pretty please :)

In other news, I have fallen all over in love with my pillow soft hair rollers-

 I have had them since last year, told you all about them and then forgot about them till I was clearing up few days ago. They are not actual rollers but rather are made up of a super soft foam cased in bendable iron round the foam and covered with white breathable cotton.

I simply spritzed my hair with some aphogee keratin green tea spritz and used a new serum from Tresemme called the Keratin infusing smoothing serum- loving it so far but any serum would do to keep the frizz to the minimum. I rolled my hair in large sections, put on my satin cap and doozed off till the next morning like I had nothing on my hair! No neck pain, no tossing and turning all night long, no unraveling through the night, the rollers all stayed intact till the next morning after dressing up when I took them out;

More results; I simply fluffed out the curls...

Great way to disguise new growth...

Yesterday night I repeated the same steps and got the same result today however I pulled back the top half of my hair and pinned it away...

As usual, when October's import window rolls around pillow soft rollers are hair rollers you can get...till then that's all for now however Lagos NHCG readers please please keep your October first week calender open, I am in talks with a few people about putting a lil somethin somethin together...till all is concrete, stay tuned and thanks for stopping by!!

Hiya,
Its the weekend and right now I have on my foil conditioning cap with some hair trigger and Silk Elements megasilk olive moisturizing treatment for my weekend treat;

Check back to find out how my hair feels after this treat but from the slip this moisturizing treatment had, my hair was already feeling conditioned before I put my cap on, it also helped that a little went a long way!

Anyways, While I was giving my hair the treat I started thinking about what to do with it when I washed the treat out and then I remembered that the MET BALL was just few weeks ago...the theme for the gala was PUNK and I saw a few pics from the event on Fashion Police and couldn't wait to take a closer look to see if I could recreat them on my hair...I have spent the last hour looking through the different websites with MET gala pictures and have settled for the looks I love the most and have a shot at recreating, Check them out;

First off is Amanda Seyfried; Very simple and sleek half up half down look with the ends twisted in the middle...couldn't find pics of the back but I can make it work.

Next is a similar but more interesting look by Blake Lively; LOVE this, especially the way strands of her hair hold the ends and form poofs!!

 UPDATE; Sunday came around and I recreated this Blake Lively look, below is my version;

This side braided/matted down look on Cara Delevigne is really down my ally...simple but different, you know I will be donning this look any Sunday from now :)

Jessica Alba must have been reading this blog *I wish* because she styled her hair in an updo with an inverted braid at the back just like this style  recreated from fashion week;

Her Take;

LOVED how Kelly Osborne styled her Updo, really big but sleek at the same time...and that color!!just love it...not on me though!!

Speaking of color...even if its just for 1 day, I would LOVE to be as bold as Nicole Richie!!Loved her White coif...she used hair spray, so no major harm done...was glad to find that out!

The next celeb I was really feeling is Katie Holmes; The side roll was so elegant from all angles! I would be most successful at recreating this style when my hair is very due for a relaxer and thick at the base, that should help with the volume and height!

Another style I like was on J.LO...maybe its just wishful thinking but I would love to recreate this style...maybe on someone else with shorter hair up top...really loved the way the coif in front stood up like it had a life of its own-So glam!

The most intriguing hairstyle from the MET gala for me was January Jones hair style, I found myself starring at her hair for a bit, wondering what was going on from all angles, unfortunately I could only find the front/sideish views not the back view...but from what I see its a poof infront with intricate braids on the sides...me LOVE!!

Gwen Stefani also did her thing; Eventhough it looks boring from the front, I'm guessing the back has a kind of bow or something interesting...well that's what I'd do if I recreate the style.

Another boring in the front, interesting in the back look was by Carey Mulligan;

The final celeb with a hairstlye I adore is Emily Blunt!! So recreatable :) Love how the lose braid is casually but purposely placed in front, can't see the back but when I recreate this style, my braid will start from the back...Can't wait!!

Tomorrow being Sunday is poke my hair and style day LOL-remember my hair complaining HERE, So check back later tomorrow for an update on which of these hairstyles I recreated for church!!

Thanks for stopping by!
