WHAT ADVICE DO YOU HAVE FOR THOSE OF US THAT LIVE HERE IN NIGERIA? COS I THINK OUR WEATHER IS REALLY HARSH AND THAT MAKES IT DIFFICULT FOR OUR HAIR TO GROW COMPARED TO WHEN YOU'RE ABROAD.

Dabs said...

I am in Nigeria!! And all my tips are practical and simple and have worked for me!

Are you natural or relaxed? If relaxed how long to you wait in between relaxers?

Dabs said...

Hiya,
My hair is relaxed well ''Texlaxed'', I try to leave my roots with a little more texture than being bone straight, I usually wait 8weeks apart but this last relaxer(update coming up) I waited about 16weeks

Rickyeshia Heard said...

How do you texlax? If you don't mind me asking..

Dabs said...

I have a post on texlaxing, please use the search column above to find it :)

Try reading Science of Black hair by Audry Davis-Sivasothy. The book tells you everything you need to know to keep your hair healthy and to stop har breakage.

you can buy this book as an ebook from kobobooks.com or from amazon.com as a traditional paper book.

My hair grows longer and thicker when I am home in Nigeria than when I am home in Ohio. Weather does have a role to play, with our fair weather we produce more sebum and that keeps hair moisturized. The ph of our water is better too since most of it is collected rain water versus the treated to death American water. Like Ms Dabs says a simple and practical regimen is what you need with consistency and patience. A clean diet and regular exercise helps too.

Hey! You have the most beautiful hair! I love your article about hamattan hair care cos I started growing my hair in may this year, and despite the fact that I colour it (I love colour!!) I have still managed to keep it reasonably healthy but I've been worried about loosing all the progress I've made. However I see I've been doing most of what you recommended so I am a lot less worried now.
My number one challenge is what to do with my hair when my under growth starts to come in usually after 4 weeks I start to look like I'm transitioning!! Lol.
I don't like weaves or braids (I think they do more harm than good) what do you recommend I do from week 4 to at least week 8 to keep my hair manageable and from breaking?

I sent u a message on Facebook already & I've added u on Instagram. Pls I await your reply soon

Dabs i love what i see, i do have a very long hair too.
Frankly almost as long as yours, the challenge is i have a lot of dandruff ...............I have thought to myself if this is the cross full headed girls, have to cope with. it is so so so embarrassing!!!! each time i tap the hair ......i reserve my comments.
so i tend to fix most times. From what i can see your hair looks so beautiful.....do you have the same issue?

Dabs said...
