NAIJA HAIR CAN GROW

Hiya Ladies,
How is everyone doing? Hope well!! This post is all about my Mimi baby!! She knew what she signed up for when she agreed to come down from heaven and be my daughter!! LOL!!!

Well this past Saturday I made my first concoction for her hair it was a moisture treatment, I came up with a special blend which I will share soon, just know it contains Honey :)

I also used the savvy chic ultimate grow scalp massager to massage her scalp gently while the DC mix was on her hair, used cling film for a Saran Wrap then covered her head with her satin cap...

Proceeded to rinse it out after 30 minutes which surprisingly passed by quickly without her fussing too much save for the initial confusion she had while I wrapped her head with the cling film.

We proceeded to air dry and then moisturized, sealed and styled!!

HAPPY BABY HAIR!!

I'll have a short clip of the process on Instagram tomorrow. Hope mums are encouraged to care for their little princesses hair with these posts.

Hiya Ladies,
How is it going!! I recently was craving braids and decided to to get them using my favorite technique- CROCHET!!

Got them done at Savvy and Chic Hair Beauty Hub, see how I mixed braids and twists? That's what I call the Savvy Chic braids and twist medley....Ok Ok let me tell you the true story, so I went to have the hair done at about past 3pm and needed to leave in about an hour, when we discovered that all the braids available had been used up so I asked what else was available and they said twists and I was like, Okay bring them and fix them in front, my girls were asking Madam are you sure? I was like a beg don't waste my time I will coin a name for this style LOL!! And the name was birth!!

A lot of people found it quite intriguing actually so I think its a style that will stick around!! Now to the main business at hand, your scalp should not stay itchy and scaly because you have a protective style on, watch the video below to see how I care for my scalp and sooth itching while with crochet braids.

I used the following products in this video-
1. Mane n Tail Detangler
2. Kui Care Tea tree and Cinnamon hair mist (proudly made in Nigeria)
3. Midas Naturals Aloe Revitalizing hair mist (proudly made in Nigeria)
4.Vanity oils Tea Tree oil (proudly made in Nigeria)
5. Savvy Chic Ultimate grow detangler
6. Savvy Chic slick and tame coil comb.

Check the short video out and let me know how you enjoyed it!!

Thanks for stopping by!

Now let's get down to business...I always get emails asking questions about hair care and I do my best to answer them as best as I can. Here are a few mails I have gotten recently with my responses, please feel free to add to them in the comment section.

From Oluwa Tosin
Good afternoon.  I came across your blog today and I must say an amazing job is what you have up there. I am actually sending you this mail because I am having a serious issue with my hair.
I took out my "ghana weaving last night and in the process of combing my hair I realized the tips of my hair were pulling out, leaving me with a short length of hair and I was heart broken.
In the course of surfing the Internet to find solutions to my hair breakage and also boost my hair growth before my next retouching by October led me to your blog.
I took some advise and then decided to try one or two methods.  I got alma tara oil and soul mate herbal hair growth  and I mixed the two in small quantity in another container alongside side with coconut oil and cod liver oil and been applying it on my scalp. I just want to know if its safe and if am doing the right thing.

My regular hair routine used to be retouching of new growth only leaving out the tips and steaming after retouching.  I don't keep or do regular washing of my hair.
I have this hair treatment made for me by my hairstylist contains weed in it. I just want to be sure if applying treatment with weed in it also causes hair breakage or not, so that I can discontinue it and stick to my new mixture stated above

I am sorry if my mail is too long but its just how I feel right now. especially when I see the length of my hair from last night. I am just sad. will gladly appreciate it if you respond and reply my mail and tell me about hair creams or oil that I can get for hair growth and also prevents hair breakage.

MY REPLY-
Thanks so much for reading my blog sorry about the hair breakage. Though I have not used cod liver oil for my hair before, I have mixed the other two oils and they worked fine. I don't know what else is in the treatment with weed made by your stylist so I cannot say for sure if it's what has caused the breakage but I will say that your breakage is probably from not having a hair routine/regimen where your hair gets consistent and regular care, that's the only way to grow your hair. If in Lagos, feel free to come by my salon so I take a close look at your hair and recommend products that I feel will work for it. Just call 08090613325 to schedule a visit.

Kind Regards,
Dabs

From Solum
Hi Dabs. Long time. How's your baby and her beautiful name?

I am still experiencing severe post partum hair loss. In fact I haven't recorded any success instead my hair is regressing beyond even what it was before pregnancy.  It's very depressing.  I try to deep condition every 2 weeks because that's how long I carry my weave. I make crotchet weaves for myself  these days just so I can be sure that I'm the only one that handles my hair.

MY Reply-
Hiya,
Good to hear from you. How's the baby?

Post partum shedding affects ladies differently but luckily it stops after a while, you can incorporate tea rinses, avoid fixing the weaves back to back, always keep spritzing your hair with liquid even with the weaves so the moisture is at it's optimum. Never manipulate dry hair. Read more HERE

Try all these and let's see how it goes, just know it's a phase and should end soon, give your hair a good trim after shedding stops.

Regards,
Dabs

From Choco Berry-
Hello good day....just read your post now!! I'm new to texlaxing and I would say that I didn't really achieve what I was looking for...my hair isn't bone straight but it's not how I want it to be....please how do I know when to cut the previous relaxed hair off...and can you create a hair regimen for me!! I'll be grateful if you reply me...thanks....

My Reply-
Hi Choco,
Texlaxing can be tricky but with practice it gets better, you can always do a corrective texlax at your next texlax. Each time you texlax you snip off bits of the bone straight ends and gradually the entire straight ends will be snipped off. Creating a hair regimen is unique to each head of hair but I put up general guidelines in my How to Build a Hair regimen post under the Navigate NHCG page HERE. For more specific guidance as to your hair type, porosity, elasticity, products etc you can schedule a visit to my salon and we can help. Here's a number to reach us via 08090613325.

From Ndifreke
Hello, I'm Ndifreke. I'm not growing my hair natural. I've noticed my hair falls a lot now and the length is very  uneven. The hair on the right side of my head is longer. Please what do I do and use.
Thank you.

 My reply-
Hiya,
If you are experiencing a lot of breakage then chances are your hair needs protein to strengthen it, start incorporating monthly protein treatments like the one I recently posted on my IG. If one side of your hair grows faster, this might be caused by you sleeping on only one side of your head, try and sleep on the other side once in a while and let's see how it goes.

Kind Regards,
Dabs

From JoiogeHi,
Please my hair is extremely damaged. It breaks, pulls out etc. I have to cut off d relaxed part and turn it to natural. My temple & nape is bald. Then the center is also bald. The entire hair is weightless. So soft.
Please help a sis.
Thanks .

My Reply-
Hello,
You are describing hair that is desperately in need of protein. Protein treatments will help give your hair strength to stop the breakage. Avoid hairstyles like the one in your photo because of the tension created along the hair line that causes breakage.

Hope you don't mind me sharing this message and advice on the blog to help others.

You can check my blog for protein treatment recipes,it's under Weekend treats in the Navigate NHCG page HERE.

Regards,
Dabs

Hello Dabs, I saw your post about hair growth and I was so excited about it because it has answered so many questions that has been bothering me about my hair. But here is another question which I'll be very happy if I can get the answer from you. What exactly can make ones hair to be dark apart from using diel. Thanks

My Reply-
Thanks for reading my blog...try using black tea....it takes time to show results but over time your hair will darken. Just soak it in hot water and use the hot water to rinse your hair.

Regards,
Dabs

From E GoldentorMy Hair falls off anytime I touch it and like I see my very looooooooong hair on my palm ..it got so bad I went for medical tests because I thought those were signs of cancer ..it's so bad I don't know how to explain to you.

My Reply-
Hello,
The best solution to dealing with breakage like this is to trace your steps. What new product or technique did you introduce to your hair? How is your scalp? Is it sore, itchy or tender? When last did you get a trim? When you are able to answer these questions and nothing peculiar. Comes up,you might have to go visit a trichologist. Visit Koyin Vera Cruz of Tresses by K vera cruz( Lagos Island) or Atiola of African Naturalistas ( Lagos Main land)...I know one in Abuja, google her- Natmaine and set up an appointment.

Please keep me updated when you do all these.

Regards,
Dabs

That's all ladies!! I enjoy getting these mails, I dont always reply early enough as I like to take my time to reply each one so please accept my apology if you have had to wait for a reply from me, blog readers please feel free to dd your 2 cents to the issues above.

Thanks!!
