Hiya,
Yes I'm back again to bug you about the Salon Day Out!! My once a year go big or go home hair and beauty event!! This year makes six years since I started blogging about hair care and it truly has been a journey of self discovery, I am so thankful for all your support and to show my genuine appreciation, I will be giving out six gifts to six attendees whose ticket numbers I will be randomly picked at the event!!

Last year, at the event we had a hair quiz and those who answered the questions correctly won gifts, this year all it's takes is for you to attend!! No quiz, no nothing!!

We will however play a game to choose our six random winners, here's how it will work...During the event, the DJ will randomly play the song 'I am not my Hair' by India Arie at six different intervals, once you hear the song, look to the screen or projector as a number will pop up and if that number is the number on your wristband ticket, you are one of the lucky six winners, you will come forward and pick from the six boxes on stage!! Fun game right?!! I'm looking forward to playing it with you all!!

Gifts will all be hair related, hair products, accessories from Savvy and Chic hair beauty hub, some vendors have also been kind enough to offer contributions to the giveaway!! The tickets cost just N1000 per person, kids under 12 enter for free...it is however advisable to leave kids at home, tickets will be available for purchase from Monday the 30th of May at the hub, 30. Norman Williams. St., you can call 08090613325, ticket will also be available at the event center- The Red Carpet Hall, Oniru on the event day.

Ladies, the countdown is on and I am so excited to meet you all!! Please make a date with me on the 5th of June, lots to learn and lots of fun to be had!!!! Have a blessed week!!!

Hi ladies,
How's everyone doing? Hope well!! I know all I've been on about in my posts have been the Salon Day Out on the 5th of June, please bear with me if you are out of town... After the event we can do product reviews, talk about some techniques I've started incorporating in my regimen etc.

Now to my topic. At the Salon Day Out on the 5th of June, there will be a competition called the Battle of the Hairlistas. I introduced it last year and it was great fun, this year I'm changing things a little to make it even more fun!! Let me run down how it's going to go down!

The Hairlistas will get introduced and the first agenda is the Recreate task, they will watch Kemi Lewis create a hairstyle live on stage and their task is to recreate that exact style to the best of their abilities without having any prior knowledge of the hair style, so their ability to learn quickly and be creative will be tested.

The next task is the Avant Garde task....since I saw a particular hairstyle which will be revealed at the event, I've been curious about how it can be recreated and I'll task the Hairlistas to recreate this hairstyle live on stage, they will however have enough time to practice prior to the day so they can give us Avant Garde magic! Can't wait!!

The next agenda for the battle is a square off quiz!! Our sponsors for the competition are the Mane Choice Africa, they produce the famous mane choice hair vitamins and have added products like shampoo, conditioner and oils to their range. The Hairlistas will be asked questions about these products and as true Hairlistas, they should be able to answer these questions!

At the end of the three tasks, all points will be gathered and the winning Hairlista will be crowned.

We have three volunteer Hairlistas this year,

There are two options, they can compete as individuals or three more volunteers can step up to make another team like last year!!

Up for grabs is an extremely generous goody bag with hair vitamins and products worth N100,000 from Mane Choice Africa and an entire month Salon Pass to Savvy and Chic Hair Beauty Hub where you can deep condition every weekend if you want, treat your scalp, do crotchet braids, faux locs, spoil your hands and feet with manis and pedis all month long, FREE OF CHARGE AT NO COST!! Ladies this is an opportunity you do not want to pass on!! If you want to step up and compete, please send me an email with the subject- I WANT TO BATTLE! ASAP as we are running out of time- daboju@yahoo.com.

As for the Hairlistas that have already stepped up, I wish you all the best of luck! For stepping up, you are all winners in my eyes! See you all on the 5th of June!!

Hi Ladies,
How's everyone doing?!! Hope well. Despite the fact that I have a truck load of work on my plate, I just had to do another post on the If you like you will love series!! Ladies I am SOOOO EXCITED about what's happening in these parts!! Young ladies are stepping up and manufacturing great quality hair products and making life easy for us that care what we put on our hair and our bodies!! In spite of the challenges with government regulations etc, these ladies(yes mostly ladies) are stepping up and charging forward!!

You will meet most of them at the 2016 Salon Day out on the 5th of June and my advice is to stock up for the year while you have the chance!!! One of the brands which I proudly associate with, from the moment when I bought their Aloe vera soap and was gifted another exfoliating soap ages ago and loved it, is AWENI ORGANICS!!

The owner was kind enough to drop off their latest addition to the hub, their Aloe Vera Hair pudding and instantly just by looking at the tub it reminded me of one of my favorite leave in moisturizers, the Darcy's Botanicals Coconut Lemongrass Transitioning Creme!!

I proceeded to open it and was further reminded of the DB transitioning creme, I love the consistency of this product, light and instantly moisturizing without weighing the hair down.

Lets do a quick ingredient comparison shall we,

DB Coconut Lemongrass transitioning creme has- Distilled Water, Organic Aloe Vera, Organic Virgin Coconut Oil, Behentrimonium Methosulfate (and) Cetearyl Alcohol, Vitamin E, Panthenol, Yarrow, Sage, Horsetail, Nettle, & Lavender Extracts, Phenoxyethanol, Caprylyl Glycol (a paraben-free preservative), and lemongrass essential oil.

Aweni Organics Aloe Vera Hair Pudding contains- Aqua(water), Aloe vera leaf gel, shea butter, coconut oil, jojoba oil, castor oil, glycerine, BTMS, Emulsyfying wax, stearic acid, optiphen plus(preservative), essential oil.

As is evident from the ingredients list, both products are mainly a mixture of oils and water with preservatives, I dare say Aweni's is more organic than the DB creme!Which is always a good thing and that's why I have felt comfortable using it on my daughter's baby kinks :)

Price point wise the Darcy's Botanical goes for $12 for 8oz, the shipping cost is $6 making the total $18- that's N5760 without the cost of shipping and handling to Nigeria. The Aweni Organics hair pudding costs N3500, for the quality of this product, I think that's a steal!!

Aweni Organics will be at the Salon Day Out Event on the 5th of June, be sure to stop by their stand to see the variety of products they will have on offer!! Can't wait!!

All the details about this year's Salon Day Out are in this post- HERE

Thanks for stopping by, gearing up to meet most of you this year at the Salon Day Out!!

Hiya Ladies,
So we are one month away from the 2016 Salon Day Out and I will take the silence on the blog to mean that everyone is just too excited to attend the event to type a comment and we all are saving our energies for the big day!!!

I'm not one to toot my horn ladies but what I've got planned for this year's event will make you pinch yourself really hard if you miss it!!!! LOL

Anyways, first on our agenda at the event is the HAIR JOURNEY SERIES! Basically, a panel of notable hair bloggers will share their hair journey stories...what made them start caring for their hair, what products did they use, did they suffer set backs, what lessons were learnt etc...after each presentation, they will take questions from the audience. So its interactive knowledge sharing not to be missed!!!

The Esteemed Panelists who I say a big thank you to for participating are;

Ade Balogun of Locitude Blog has had locs for about 5 years and owns a hair salon, so she is the perfect person to tell us about locs, how she overcame the stigma that sometimes comes with locs, the pressure from society, keeping her edges intact and the whole shebang!!!

Uzo of  is Transitioning!! Her blog Don't Touch the hair is a great resource. Those who have been through transitioning, know its no easy feat!! So we will be hearing her story on this, from making the decision to sticking to it and making it work!!

Ekene blogs at THE KINK AND I a natural hair blog I personally enjoy reading because she is an experimentalist just as I am :) I look forward to hearing her share her story, the ups, downs and in betweens!

Finally we have;

Tosin curates the website Naija Naturals  and she has beautiful natural hair!! She will share with us all her tips and tricks, her staple products and regimen!!

Ladies, make a date with us on the 5th of June 2016, its a Sunday and the series starts at 12 noon!!! Tickets to attend are N1000 only. Also please spread the word!!

Hiya,
Ladies, how are you doing?? Lagos/ Naija based Hairlistas get ready for a treat at this year's Salon Day Out!!! It's on the 5th of June(1st Sunday of June) and will start at 12 noon up on till 6:00pm. Every minute of this year's day out promises to be enlightening, educative, fun and interactive.

We are using the Red Carpet Hall at Oniru( Four Points Sheraton Road),Victoria Island. It's a huge marquee so there will be so much space as I promised last year, no standing except you are shopping around! So yes, there will be vendors all around the hall, from hair product vendors to skin care to makeup to FOOD!! Yes this year there's a food court  with different orishirishi so no one is left starving!

We have the following activities planned that will be taking place on stage-

12:30- 2pm- The Hair Journey Series- Just as last year, I've selected 4 Hairlistas who will share all about their hair journey from the beginning to where they are now, they will also take questions and share everything they know from regimens to products and general hair care advice!!

2pm-2:30pm will be a presentation by Natural Nigerian on the topic-The Nigerian Hairlista's Evolution-Using Nigerian Products to grow your hair and the Naira.

I for one have completely switched from relying heavily on using imported products to where I'm using mostly Nigerian products or natural products on my hair and that's all thanks to wonderful companies like Natural Nigerian, Aweni, Namaste and Co. So it's only apt for the owner of one of a Nigeria's leading hair products companies to teach us how to make the switch and save our pockets from being drained!!

2:30-3pm- HAIR REHAB With Dabs LIVE- I've chosen two lucky ladies with damaged hair to work with all through the month of May at my salon, the ladies will have a complete hair makeover and the big reveal will be made on stage, the ladies will also share what they learnt all month long.

3pm- 4pm- BATTLE. OF. THE. HAIRLISTAS!!
it was sooooo much fun last year, so why not a repeat this year!! I'm tweaking the tasks a little though, for instance the Recreate Task will have Kemi Lewis of KL's Naturals create a style there on stage and have the teams recreate LIVE, the tasks will also be more interactive! Up for grabs are goody bags from the MANE CHOICE AFRICA worth over N100,000-  from their vitamins to their growth oil, detangling shampoo, conditioner....their products are taking naturalistas by storm in the US, just go on their Instagram page, ladies are clearing the shelves at Target and Sally's so I knew I had to get them on board and they are very excited sponsors!! Savvy and Chic will also give generous goody bags and salon passes to the winning team, I've had a few ladies sign up but not enough to form teams yet. I need at least 6 more ladies, so if you are up for this adventure, please send me an email with the subject- I Want to Battle!

4pm-6pm- Nigeria's First WIG RUNWAY SHOW!!! Ladies, I'm soooo. excited about this!! Basically I've approached a number of Nigerian wig companies and they have signed up for this show. It will consist of professional models, there will be a runway like at fashion shows and each wig company will show their collection of delectable wigs!!
You know it's one thing to see a picture of wig on a mannequin, it's another to see it move, feel it's texture, check  out the hairline and how it will look on a real person, well that's all what the show will be about and best believe the wig companies will be giving discounts on their wigs and you can shop away their collections following the show!! Wigs have been a tremendous help as protective styles for me personally, so I've picked my best wigs including Rileysee review HERE(all brand new of course) and I have Made a Savvy & Chic Collection to show also!!

You guys I am soooooo excited about this year!! Planning started a little late because of the new addition to my family but I'm so pumped now that it's a month away and hope you all are too!!  To celebrate my 6th year of blogging, I will giveaway 6 gifts to 6 random attendees using a very fun game that is sure to get everyone excited!!

Tickets to attend will go for N1000 only. Please save the late ladies, 5th of June, 5th of June, 5th of June!! All month long, I will share more about all those involved in the different segments at the event!! Please stay tuned!

See you all there!
