Hi ladies,
If you follow me on Instagram you already saw the picture of the satin sleep cap I made for my 3 Weeks old daughter...yes you read right!! Babies need some TLC too you know!!

The idea came when I was thinking about how to avoid that line of demarcation babies have at the back their heads...my two boys had it and it drove me crazy but they were boys and their hair textures were completely different but I'm not about to fold my hands and watch it happen to my precious little girl! Lol! So I thought if satin sleep caps help protect edges from thinning out and dryness, surely making a satin sleep cap by lining the beanie I got from the hospital when I had Mitaire will work just the same...so I purchased a quarter yard of pink satin and here's a quick pictorial...

You'll need a baby beanie cap, satin material, scissors, thread and needle

First measure the amount of satin you will need to line inside the beanie;

Turn the beanie inside out and sew the satin material to the top of the beanie where the cap is joined

Proceed to sew the two ends of the satin material inside out so that when you turn them over, the seam is on the inside. Neatly fold the edges of the cap to match with the edge of the beanie and sew the two together

Fold over the beanie, et viola!!

Wear your precious baby!!

Fingers crossed this will help to prevent thin edges or that line of demarcation, other things I'm doing include making her sleep on her tummy (only when I'm watching her) so that there's limited friction at the back of her hair, I'm also still using only Savvy and Chic whipped Shea butter in buttercream

When I apply the Shea butter on her hair, I always use the little brush they gave us at the hospital to brush her hair while giving her a gentle head massage for extra stimulation to her tender scalp....these things I believe will add up and give her really lush hair :)

That's all for now, second post for today coming up so stay tuned!!

P. S if you have sent in your pic for the 2016 6 inches of growth challenge and I am yet to respond, not to worry...I will get round to it. Thanks.

Hiya,
Its been a while since I blogged about how my hair is doing, what products I've been using and all the fun stuff!!

Let's get straight to it...right now my hair is 13 weeks post relaxer and I am stretching 3 more weeks to get to 16 weeks post relaxer( 4 months) which is currently the longest time I have ever stretched. Ironically, this strech has not been as unbearble as I would have guessed, been so busy that before I realized, I was 12 weeks post relaxer...I also have done crotchet extensions twice within this time and that must have contributed to me breezing through this stretch.

I am starting to come to terms with my absolutely different textured back hair (nape hair)...it must be like a 4Z!!!! I say this because that section of my hair is the driest, most sensitive, split end prone, kinkiest part of my hair. It's that section of my hair that has always thinned out forming my infamous V and It's at it again;

As you can see in the pic above, the shorter back strands are at APL and the rest of my hair is comfortably at Bra-strap...this is when I usually hack off the rest of my hair to APL because I want equality...but after doing it twice and seeing the same thing happen, I refuse to be INSANE( Insanity is doing the same thing over and over again expecting different results), all I can do now is to give that area of my hair the ultimate TLC that I possibly can and nurture it as I go along, it can get to bsl and the rest of my hair is MBL and that's alright!

In my search for a solution I found that I'm not the only one with the problem, even hair guru's have dealt with it at some point in their journey. I found this post by JEN of JUST GROW ALREADY most helpful(she even went on a 6 months challenge to grow her's out- instead of hack all her hair off like I've done- TWICE!! wish someone told me :(. Well here's the post, I do EVERYTHING she wrote except I use my own choice of products, check this post out if you are having thinning/breakage in your nape area...Just Grow Already Nape challenge post.

As for my products of choice? Lately I have fully embraced the product junkie within, I have so much stash that I am spoilt for choice!! I've been loving Natural Nigerian's leave in for daily moisturizing the most though,

so light weight and ridiculously moisturizing...it easily rivals Shea Moisture curl milk!! For sealing I've been using coconut and almond oil.

 My hair has been benefiting GREATLY from the treats I have been whipping up for the hub(stay tuned for this weekend's treat announced latest Friday).  I don't drink alcohol but my hair sure loves beer!

For co-washing I have been using Garnier's new damage eraser conditioner-

recommended by a NHCG reader, LOVE IT!! It has to be a staple from now on!! Of course the Savvy & Chic luxury satin caps have helped me retain my moisture(we have such a variety now, holla if you need  one- 08090613325 or email info@hairbeautyhub.com.)

We also have a variety of satin pillow cases to match- delivery is available nationwide;

Sleeping with a satin cap/pillowcase need not be boring any longer!! That's all for now ladies, thanks for stopping by!!

Hiya,
Here's a little update on last Saturday's activity packed day!! The Naturals in the City event was that day, the Loc Appreciation day event was on later in the evening to which Savvy & Chic was an official sponsor. If you follow Naija Hair Can Grow on instagram you would have seen updates from that day already.

Anyways, started out my day at the hub, getting the Jamaican Mango and lime/ Taliah Waahlid products ready for display-

they are presently on display at the hub and most of the products like their protein conditioner, scalp oil, no more-itch spray, Jamaican black castor oil, Taliah's great detangler, black earth cleanse and conditioning shampoo CAN all be used by Non- Loc'd hair journeyer's, you know I break the rules all the time and get out of my lane and use these products and they work great on my hair too!!

Spy more pictures from the Loc Appreciation Day on the Locitude blog- HERE

Then it was off to the Naturals In the City-8 event where I met quite a few new (to me) and interesting brands and of course I couldn't resist so I picked a few products;

Above are; Three bottles of Hawaiian Silky Herbal 14-in-1 spray- there was a buy 2 get 1 deal so I took it and will be giving away one or maybe 2 of these bottles in a future post. It was such a coincidence to see this brand there though because I recently did a You tube video(which I haven't posted) and reviewed this spritz, it really makes my new growth soft and manageable.

Then I was introduced to the AWENI brand; they makes soaps, scrubs and body butters if I recall, I got their Aloe Vera soap and got another exfoliating soap(the brown one) FREE :), been using the free one and I love it, cleanses my skin without stripping it off completely- The reason why I don't like dudu osun soap for my skin.

Then I got the MOST DELICIOUS SMELLING CHOCOLATE TRUFFLE SUGAR SCRUB ( the small tub with dark brown stuff in it) from  a brand I just got to know about; Bubbles and Scents. I need to do a separate review on this product when SMELLIVISION is created- soooo YUM :)))

Then I got Natural Nigerian's Leave in conditioner and Namaste Organics leave in which I cant wait to try when these extensions come out..

Speaking of which; its been two weeks since I've had them on and I cannot wait to take them out ASAP!! But I was asked a few questions about crotchet extensions.

Q 1. Can you pack up the extensions in a bun?

Yes you can :)

Q. How do you care for your own hair;

I lift up the extensions from each woven braid;
Then I oil my scalp and surrounding hair:
I will blog about how I take it down with step by step pictures later.

Finally, we have a new range of Satin sleep caps for kids; As I don't have any daughter or little girl around me, had to use my son as the model :)

Could only get one shaky shot of it before he yanked if off his head and warned me never to try it again!! LOL

But for you are mum's with daughter, for your nieces, friend's daughters, basically little girls from ages 5 up to say 8, this sleep cap will be a nice way to introduce them to caring for their hair, its also a plus that the caps come in really fun colorful variations for adults and kids...

 Kid's caps go for N750 only, Adults N1000. Simply visit the website or email info@hairbeautyhub.com with your order.

Thanks a bunch for all the support!!

Have a blessed new month ahead!!

Hiya,
This post has been a long long time coming...blame it on the hub!! Been so busy caring for everyone's hair, had to forget about my texlax for a while!!

It went well, I used the beloved Silk Elements Mixed Silk relaxer, my hair actually retained its texture which was a great thing as texlaxing can be hit and miss sometimes but I am getting better at it;

Most of my ends are on line 11 which is just past my BSL- Bra Strap Level but as you can see my ends are a mess( usually happens as your hair grows longer)

Rather than Chop them all off to say line 9 as I would have done in the past because I loathe straggly ends, I decided I''ll exercise restraint and patience and just take half an inch off- its all my hacking off that has made it look like I've been the same length for years, this year I vowed not to hack and just trim as I go along (so help me God)

My next texlax which I'm hoping is my last for the year (if I can pull it off, I'd like to texlax just three times a year), should be on the first week of November... I hope to be past line 11 by then and well on my way to MBL (Mid Back Length) which I intend to nurture till its full and healthy from root to tips and then I maintain it.

Here's a video on Youtube of me talking about my texlax-

I am going to be putting more hair/beauty videos up so please subscribe to the channel :)- SEE MORE VIDEOS UNDER THE- MY YOUTUBE VIDEOS TAB

If you are not texlaxing and you want fuller, healthy looking hair-Texlaxing is the answer, I promise you!! I have been making quite a few NHCG readers believers and just yesterday, I took a shot of a client's hair after texlaxing

you can imagine how full her hair will be when the thin relaxed ends grow out!!

and she finally accepted that her decision to texlax her hair ( thanks to me) is the answer to full, healthy looking hair she has always craved...if you get a relaxer and your hair sticks to your head like a skull cap- you have relaxed bone straight and left your hair limp and susceptible to major damage-start texlaxing, its the best of both worlds!!- *cough cough* (Ad Over, LOL)

Now unto other issues, We- Savvy & Chic Hair  Beauty Hub are launching our own luxury silk/satin caps and pillowcases on the June 8th Salon day out!!!

Here's a sneak peak of promo photos of the caps here;

 And the pillow case;

MODEL- THE GORGEOUS EZ OF BEAUTY IN LAGOS
PHOTOGRAPHY- Emmanuel Oyeleke Photography.

Me rocking my cap; ditched the black boring one :)

The price of the cap is just N1000 and the pillowcases are N2000, N3000 for a pair.
The idea behind the caps was birth from a NHCG reader!!! (How can I do this hair thing without you guys!!)- Basically she told me how she would like to sleep with a satin cap but anytime she wore the one she bought from me- the usual black one-

Her husband just wasn't having it and as a newly wed, she had to stay hot and cute from head to toe at night time( baby making tinz-LOL) so my mind immediately went to sleep caps made from fun cute and sultry silk/satin and that led to the production of these caps!!

Please come out on the 8th and show support, I plan to have these caps be the sleep caps of choice for every head of hair in Nigeria then Africa and beyond!! *wide grin*

Expect a full detailed post on the salon day out, its NEXT WEEKEND!!!!- EXCITED!!!!
