HAPPY NEW YEAR LADIES!!!!! The new year came by in a flash for me!! I wish you all the blessings of joy and peace in 2013 and may the Lord grant you your heart desires!!!
Once again I have to apologize to those who have sent me emails that I am yet to respond to, things have been very busy lately and hopefully I will take time to respond to every email ASAP!!
In the mean time, ARE YOU ALL READY FOR MY 2 BIG ANNOUNCEMENTS?!!
ANNOUNCEMENT 1; THE NHCG 6INCHES OF GROWTH CHALLENGE HAS BEGUN!! It began once the clock struck 12am and will end in December on a date I will choose. HERE'S A LINK to the Guidelines and rules governing the challenge. I have gone ahead to number my length check T-SHIRT;
sorry the lighting is bad! Much better, I had to turn the lights off and tilt forward so you see the lines on the shirt! |
I measured the T-shirt to 16inches, my hair fell on aboout 7inches at just past APL.
For the challenge I will be focusing on filling out the ends of my hair and ensuring maximum length retention and for that reason, I will be keeping a (believe it or not)- Shed Hair dairy!!! There is nothing as convincing as visual evidence, so I will be gathering;
balls of my shed hair in 2013!! I will gather them each wash day and during styling which will be very low manipulation and I will save them and till the end of the month and take a picture, then discard!! Hopefully the pictures I take will help me track my shedding and Im hoping the balls shrink as the months pass by or at least remain the same size but definitely does'nt increase!!'
If you are not grossed by the idea of saving your shed hair all month long, you can join me :) I will share more tips and tricks with you all that will help let us get the most out of the challenge...till then unto announcement number 2!
ANNOUNCEMENT 2; THE NHCG HAIR IMPORTS WINDOW IS OPEN!!
November imports went better than I could imagine and the January import window is finally open for all of you who itched for the December window to be open. It will be open till the 7th of January, to find out how you can get hair products you have searched high and low for in Naija to no avail, please click HERE or the SHOP NHCG page above, scroll down and you will see suggestions of the products you can get and how to go about ordering them.
As a guide I will share with you products I personally recommend you try this month!!
ROUX POROSITY CONTROL CORRECTOR & CONDITIONER;
Have you done a POROSITY TEST on your hair? Well I did one a week after I relaxed my hair; I simply threw a ball of my hair in a bowl of water;
And watched it sink, as you can see, it didnt sink so quickly and that meant my hair needed to be more porous so all the yummy nutrients and oils can be absorbed, if it sank too quickly, that would mean the hair was too porous which will mean as quickly as the yummy products go into the hair, they quickly dry out also!
But the ROUX Porosity control conditioner ensures that your hair is just the right balance of being porous. I love that it is watery and light like a shampoo;
Making it perfect for Co-Washing(you all know what that means by now right? Its 2013 don't slack oh, know your hair terms :)
So without a doubt, I think Roux Porosity Control conditioner should be a staple in any hair stock!!
Another Product I recommend this month is GRAPESEED OIL
I bought this oil without knowing much about it, it was just one of the oils I saw at Whole foods when I went there...but as I got it, I started hearing great things about this oil especially from Waist length hair guru JEN from Justgrowalready!! Apparently the oil is a ceramide and ceramides according to my research perform a "barrier function" and help reduce the hair's overall porosity. They bind to the hair fiber in damaged, vulnerable areas to help prevent natural moisture and protein loss that occurs when we manipulate our hair. That sounds to me like a winner!! So if you are looking for backing in the porosity department again, Grapeseed Oil is a product I highly recommend!!!
Finally, I like to recommend a bang for your buck product and this month it has to be the CANTU SHEA BUTTER LEAVE IN CONDITIONING REPAIR CREAM
I like this product because its extremely affordable, comes in large quantity and is very light weight and moisturizing which is great for everyday use though it is protein based!! I think its a very great product and highly recommend it if you are looking for a good moisturizer that will do the job and last a few months!!
I hope this post has you pumped to take on your hair in 2013!! Dont worry, Naija Hair Can Grow will be here for you whenever you need help!!
Now lets CHEERS TO THE NEW YEAR!!!
Xxx
