The YAY, NAY and BLEH SERIES-Hair Moisturizers!

Hiya,
A few months ago I got a mail from a reader from Zambia called Fatima-'Hey Gurl !' She asked me to write reviews on my favorite products and I thought it was a brilliant idea seeing that I am a certified strategic product junkie *wink* . So I looked through my stash and saw that I have favorites but I also have some products I personally wouldn't touch again with a 6foot pole and some that I just feel BLEH about...maybe if they were the last products on earth then I will use them.

Now this series is very personal, meaning that the opinions written about these products are from my personal use of them so if you have used them before, you are allowed to rate them yourselves and group them yourselves. I am just hoping that this series will help hair journey beginners be aware of what to look out for in purchasing different hair products and since this blog chronicles my hair journey, I am allowed to YAY, NAY or BLEH products I try :)

So here's my stash in recent times- 2012/2013

Soooo let me start with the YAY's!
These moisturizers I absolutely adore because they leave my strands feeling super soft and moisturized, they also with the aid of sealing of course retain moisture and shine on my strands. The feeling I get from using them is almost like I used water, my hair becomes a little damp as I apply them but the strands quickly absorb them leaving the hair soft and manageable like a wet sponge :)

These moisturizers are;
Silk Dreams satin smooth hair cream
Silk dreams mocha silk hair milk
Shea moisture coconut and hibiscus curl enhancing smoothie
Optimum care Amla legend night creme wrap
Organix rejuvenating cherry blossom ginseng miracle defrizzant cream

Now to the BLEH's!
You know when you go to a restaurant, order from their menu, the food comes, you eat the food and you are just left BLEH! That feeling when you are underwhelmed, you can manage the food because well its food and you are hungry but if you had your way you'd eat something else...that's how the products on this list make my hair feel. I can use them if I had no other choice but if I had a choice they would be considered last.

The first product on this list will shock most of you because I have noticed its the most ordered hair moisturizer on SHOP NHCG and frequently recommended by most hair gurus but personally it leaves my strands feeling BLEH because its consistency is too thick for me and rubs on too heavy, so I mix it with water if I have to use it.

It's ...

Elasta Qp olive oil and mango moisturizing butter

The other BLEH products are;
Shea moisture coconut and hibiscus curl & style milk
Organix Moroccan smooth perfection blow out cream
Lustra silk Curl max curl pudding enhanced with argan oil

Finally my NAY NAY NAY hair moisturizers; moisturizers I will not touch again with a 10 foot pole! Mostly because they weighed down my hair, literally just sat on top my strands like yoko zuna!
Some of them even left my hair hard with white residue...just yuck!

The NAY list;
 Soft sheen carson's Optimum oil therapy
African pride Shea butter miracle moisture intense bouncy curls pudding
Kay vel all natural creme press transitioning creme
Soft sheen carson's Mango oil & cupuacu butter feather whipped curl cream

As you can see some products of the same brand and product line are on different lists like the Soft sheen Carson's, Shea moisture and Oraganix that's why I always advice against limiting your self to buying an entire product line  just because you want to stick to the particular brand...

I know my hair moisturizer stash is quite large but its because I have a no sentiments attached approach to hair products and try to keep an open mind to at least trying a product that catches my fancy once and I have quickly learned by doing this list that hair 'puddings' don't love my hair, they actually are marketed to natural hair ladies  because of how thick and dense natural hair can be but how would I have figured out my hair prefrence if I never tried different hair moisturizers...so in summary, I say to be successful on a hair journey you have to be OPEN to trying as many products as you can afford till you find what works...manage a product that doesn't do anything for your hair and your hair will stay stagnant.

The next on the series would be Hair Leave in conditioners! Stay tuned for that...NHCG 2nd blog anniversary will be in 7 DAYS!!! Time does fly!!!I am planning something special to celebrate :)

Thanks for stopping by!
