FEB. 2014 HAIR UPDATE!

Hiya,
How's everyone doing? I am here with my first hair update for the year, I had a relaxer treatment done a day before my appearance on the Moment's with Mo show at just entering 12 weeks post relaxer. I actually wanted to get it done over the weekend and then I got the email inviting me and they specifically said please come with your natural hair! I took one good look at my new growth and said there's no way I can tame this hair, luckily I had with me a box of my beloved relaxer of all time; Silk Elements Mixed Silk relaxer;

I followed the usual steps; find them HERE, And it turned out great! 12 Weeks post meant I was supposed to have retained one and a half inches of growth since relaxing in December( the festivities didn't allow me do a hair update then) but then this is happening;

I Posted this picture on instagram the weekend before I relaxed my hair and if you take a close look, my middle back hair is acting up however not nearly as bad as in 2012!

See the V in 2012;

So I trimmed my hair a little but I am slowly coming to the conclusion that its just how my hair grows! I have ''babied'' that middle back the best I can, it just grows slower and I can't keep holding the rest of my hair back because of it, so my remedy is small trims to make the entire head of hair look presentable and that's what I did before relaxer day and here's the length I am working with now;

 As you can see, my ends are playing catch up, are the shorter ones unhealthy? NO...They are just wired to grow slower and as long as they look presentable enough I am going to exercise restraint and not give my hair a hair cut... blunt cuts are not for everybody, I will just trim as needed ( sorry it seems like I am repeating myself...Its just that I am a sucker for full sharp ends and I am struggling with my decision but I know its the only way I have a shot at fully accomplishing my 6 inches goal this year or at least coming close enough)... Just so you see that GROWTH RETENTION is the only way to longer hair (healthier hair is a result of other factors), see side by side comparisons of my hair between Sept 2013 and Feb. 2014;

I was just grazing line 9 in Sept, now I am just grazing line 11 which makes me full Bra Strap Length...my hair goal is Mid back Length-MBL that's 4/5 inches just after my bra-strap and then I am done! I will maintain the cut, not interested in waist length hair ( too much work..well not right now. I might change my mind, but I doubt it)

My edges are also doing well, you know I had a baby in August 2013, by November, my hair was in full post partum shed mode, just take a look at my edges;

NOT HAPPY!!

I have always had two thin spots on my temple region and they just got worse but with the help of none other than Jamaican Black Castor, my edges are back to normal;

I simply applied a few drops of the oil on my thinning spots and massaged every night...

So that's that with my hair, I have been having a blast meeting quite a few of you and treating your heads of hair at my appointment only salon at The Savvy & Chic Hair Beauty Hub on 34a Awolowo road, Ikoyi;
