ALL ABOUT MORINGA!!

Hiya, How's everyone doing?!! Hope all is well! I don't know about you but I for one have been hearing about and seeing a new nutritional/medicinal fad called MORINGA everywhere I look these days Moringa is sold; sold in powder form, seeds, leaves even the bark!! It was when I finally saw it packed in containers and on the container was written Moringa and beside it for HAIR... Naturally, my interest was peaked and I had to do my research and I am here with my findings for  ladies who just like me have been wondering about this mystery tree called Moringa!!

The Moringa oleifera tree has been considered as one of the most nutritious plants ever discovered with most of its benefits concentrated in its small green leaves. It is found mainly in Africa, parts of India and South America.

 The most nutritious part of the tree are the leaves which are rich in proteinvitamin Avitamin Bvitamin C and minerals, -Source

The leaves are best used in powder form after they have been freshly harvested.  Fresh Moringa leaf powder is deep green in color and has a rich nutty smell.

Just in case you want to turn the leaves to powder yourself;
It is prepared by drying the moringa leaves at low temperature such that the plant tissue reaches a fine powdered consistency. Screen to remove impurities and then you can make them into capsules and seal in bags. Amazingly once packed, this powder remains fresh for several months, retaining its nutritional value of vitamins, minerals, antioxidants, chlorophyll and complete amino-acids.

NOW TO IT'S BENEFITS FOR OUR HAIR;
Moringa improves the physical appearance of the hair to a great extent because of its abundance of vitamins, minerals and amino acids which are paramount in the formation of keratin protein. Healthy hair starts from within so health problems or nutritional deficiencies can damage the hair and cause problems like dandruff, split ends and breakage. Thus the need to take nutrition packed food/herbs like Moringa.

Moringa has a high content of vitamin A, thus promoting hair growth and maintenance because deficiency of vitamin A can cause dryness, brittleness and dandruff. Optimum delivery of oxygen and nutrients from the circulatory system to the hair follicle is vital for proper hair growth. Vitamin A plays an important role in the development of healthy cells and tissues in the body and reduction of hair loss.

The Moringa plant also contains zinc which stimulates hair growth by enhancing the immune function. Zinc and silica along with vitamin A prevents drying and clogging of the sebaceous glands. Sebaceous glands are responsible for production of sebum( what keeps your hair shinny and nourished)

Vitamin E contained in moringa is a powerful antioxidant that stimulates blood circulation around the scalp. Proper flow of blood to the scalp helps in the absorption of more nutrients available in the hair follicles.

Hair loss occurs due to the deficiency of vitamin B- especially B6, biotin, inositol and folic acid. Proper blood circulation to the scalp enables hair follicles to grow stronger and healthier. Vitamin C together with vitamin E helps in the improvement of blood circulation in the scalp.

Moringa is a storehouse of all the nutrients required for healthy hair.

Let's crunch some numbers;

 Moringa leaves provide you with 4 times the calcium in milk,
                                                           3 times the potassium in the average size banana
                                                           4 times the vitamin A in carrot
                                                            25 times the iron in spinach and
                                                            7 times the vitamin C of an orange

The nutrients found in Moringa are natural and more easily absorbed by the body compared to synthetic drugs or supplements.

Ladies, when I read all the benefits of this tree, not just for hair by the way, I made sure to grab one from a mallam hawking on my way back from work but on closer inspection I am reluctant to use it because I do not know how it was prepared so I will be looking to dry and turn the leaves to powder myself or purchase a well packaged moringa product ( There is also Moringa oil which I think will be ideal for sealing moisture in the hair) from a vendor on my Savvy & Chic Hair Beauty Hub ...Can't wait for that company to join they are LOADED with wonderful products...I will spill the beans here when they join...

In the mean time, Moringa is the business!! I will some how incorporate it into my regimen, though its most effective ingested, here is a link to MORINGA FOOD RECIPES;HERE If you want to try them out!!
