The NHCG 6inches of growth challenge-quick guide 1-making a length check T-shirt
Hiya,
It's been busy up in here!! Thanks to all the many readers that have patronized SHOP NHCG imports for January!! The window is now closed, orders have been made and I am waiting excitedly till all the yummy stuff come in just in time for the first month of our challenge to be over!!
Now back to the topic, I have decided that through out this challenge, I will post quick straight forward tips, guidelines, directions etc that will help participants.
Today's guide is all about the length check T-shirt!! By now if you are participating in the challenge you should have taken a picture with a length check t-shirt that's the one thing that qualifies you for the prize at the end-the picture showing your starting point with the length check T-shirt!
So I'm chatting with my pal the other day and she says 'hey babes I don't know how to make that your length check t-shirt oh!' I was like hmmm that's true, I just assumed everyone could figure out how to make one but after our convo, I decided not to leave it to chance and give anyone an excuse for not participating in the challenge so this post will guide you on how I made my length check T-shirt-No more excuses Elle!! :)
First you need a T-shirt with a plain back, preferable white or light colored so the markings can show, then you need a marker, a ruler marked in inches and a cardboard or book or any hard surface that will prevent the ink of the marker from sipping through to the front of the T-shirt.
The first thing I think you need to do is determine how you will measure your markings. If you have shorter hair, say neck length, your markings should start from where your hair falls, so basically the longest part of your hair should be the beginning of your marking. If your hair is so short it does not fall, your first marking should be 6 inches away from where your ends are or a reasonable point like neck length.
Next step is to slip the hard flat surface in my case, shoe box cover under the T-shirt; This as I stated before prevents the ink of the marker from sipping through to the front as well as allows you draw the line as straight as possible.
For me I knew my hair was at least Arm pit length so I measured the shirt from its neck to the arm pit level and that length was the 7 inches.
Then I decided to mark the shirt in intervals of 2 inches. So the next line was 9inches and then 11 inches and then 13 inches like that till 15 inches.
My advice is you mark the inches first with dots then use the ruler to draw the line across as straight as you can.
Please don't let the number your hair falls on bug you. I must confess when my hair fell on 7 inches I was like huh? That can't be right, It was until I realized that I had not measured my hair from the nape of my head but rather from the neck of the T-shirt which is at least 3 inches away from my nape and measured at 7 inches. I checked and my hair is more like 10/11 inches now by the end of this challenge it should be at the 13 inches mark on the T-shirt y'all( taking into consideration the 3 inches not reflected; meaning in reality it should be 16inches long) !! It's a bold stance but I'm excited just thinking about the possibility!!
If numbering the lines in inches bugs you that much, try using alphabets or roman numerals or simply just say 1,2,3 without acknowledging how many inches it should be.
In any case what I'm doing is focusing on where my hair will be at the end of the challenge and not where it is now, that's what I urge you all to please do. If your hair is not even close to the neck of your t-shirt, spend more time dreaming about when it will finally land on your neck than brood about how it is just hanging in the air, it's a healthier way to approach this challenge.
I hope this post has helped, no more excuses, having a length check t-shirt is as easy as A B C, so please make one today, take a picture of your starting point, see you in February when you have gained one more inch and then in April when you gain another and then June when we meet for half time assessments till the end of the year comes, inch by inch, we will get there!!
Xxx
